More About Shannon
Shannon Pawliw (b. 1970, Saskatoon, Canada) creates paintings, installations, mixed media, sculptural, and conceptual artworks centred around legacy, memory, and loss. At once humorous and nostalgic, her work is keenly autobiographical. Her work also tends to have an element of the obsessive, which is expressed and indulged through daily practice and ritual. Her work examines the human need for ‘conclusive’ stories and the question of whether anecdotal memory (real or imagined) ‘fictionalizes’ history.
Pawliw is also a graphic designer. Her work appears in private collections across Canada. She currently lives and works in Vancouver, BC.
